Gestational Diabetes & taking insulin not oral meds!? |
Why do you have to take insulin and not oral meds. when your pregnant with gestational diabetes? for the answer to the question.....oral medication has the ability and potential ...depending on the medication to cross into the placenta and enter fetal circulation causing harm to fetus. insulin.....does not. This is news to me. I thought most GDM patients took Metformin. I am surprised by this. Maybe you ought to consider a 2nd opinion. Oral diabetes medications are not safe for the baby while you are pregnant. Mr Peachy is right. When I had GD 3 years ago they tried to give me oral meds for it. |
