Gestational Diabetes..I've LOST weight....AAHHH???!!? |
I am 29.5 weeks pregnant with #2. I have gestational diabetes. I followed the diet that was given to me and I lost 4 lbs between TUESDAY NIGHT (1-22) and the next Monday AFTERNOON (1-28)-almost 6 full days. My dietician was not very happy and told me not to loose any more weight!!! She said its ok if I stay the same weight though. I go to the next appt with her then my OB on Friday, Feb. 8. Baby is always moving and everything seems ok, but with this healthy new eating I am scared that I will loose more weight. Why does she not want me to loose weight? If the weight I am loosing is my fat then why does it matter? I've already gained 40lbs this pregnancy and dont want to gain anymore, which if I dont gain anymore it will make it an average weight gain during pregnancy, but technically wont I still be "loosing" weight? Because baby is gaining and I am loosing wont that average out to be "no" weight gain... Im confised..HELP! THANKS! If you are actually eating the recomended amount of food and keeping your blood sugars in check there really is no harm in loosing any wieght unless you are underweight normally. Just make sure you keep your blood sugars in check and take your vitamins religiously. I had gestational diabetes with both my children. With the first one I only gained 5 pounds the entire time and my Dr. fussed at me almost every visit because I didn't gain weight but he weighed 8 pounds. My second one I only gained about 10 pounds and she was 2 weeks early and weighed 9 lb.12 oz. I had gestational diabetes with my 2nd child also. I saw a nutrutionist, and was given a meal plan. I ate what they told me to, when they told me to. I felt like I was always eating, but I lost weight. I lost about 10 pounds, but gained it back at the end of the pregnancy plus about 5 more. So I only gained 5 pounds the whole time. The Dr and the nurse at the WIC office lectured me the whole time, but my sugar stayed under control, my baby only weighed 6 lbs 13 oz, nad he was healthy. Just eat like you should, watch your sugar and have a healthy baby. |
