Can I have a false test for gestational diabetes ?

I had a glucose test after my tea and couple of glucose biscuits. And my test came positive and doctor delcared me as a gestational diabetes patient. Does anyone have any idea that it can be false because of tea and biscuits I had half an hour before?

My Dear Friend,

Who injected the idea of gestational Diabetes in you?

Why did you go for blood sugar testing half an hour after taking couple of Glucose biscuits and a cup of tea?
Definitely , after 30 minutes after taking the items you mentioned the blood sugar levels will be high.It is natural.

(The test shall be taken only after one and half hours later ) that is 90 minutes after you eat any thing ).
Then the doctor will check the sugar levels.
This is called Post Pandrial sugar test.

First of all,Before eating anything, you should take the test, called FASTING SUGAR TEST.
The fasting sugar test is normally done in the morning before you take anything at all.Urine sample will also be taken then for testing.
Then you will be asked to eat some thing you generally eat as breakfast.
Then after 90 minutes after you eat , again blood and urine samples will be taken and tested for sugar levels.

The fasting blood sugar should be less than 110 mg/dl
and urine should show ..NIL sugar.

Post pandrial sugar test readings shall be
in blood it shall be less than 160 mg/dl
in urine it should be NIL.
( this is as per Indian practice ,I told )
If the results are within those ranges you are Ok and non diabetic.

NO DOCTOR ON A SINGLE TEST,WITHOUT KNOWING WHEN YOU ATE AND WHAT YOU ATE, CAN SAY WHETHER YOU ARE A DIABETIC OR NOT.

If you have any doubt go to a doctor Diabetologist (specialist in Diabetes) and there the Doctor will prescribe GTT .Glucose Tolerance Test.
A measured glucose liquid will be given to you on empty stomach and at specified intervals the blood and urine Glucose levels will be tested. This test gives accurate values and determines whether you are a DIABETIC OR NOT.

Don't ,by a single test , if the results are abnormal,be afraid that you are a diabetic.
As per your version, the doctor may BE WRONG IN TELLING YOU THAT YOU ARE A DIABETIC.
Don't panic.Go to a diabetologist.Get all tests done.I am sure you are not a DIABETIC.
even if you are, dont WORRY.THERE ARE VERY GOOD MEDICINES THAT MAKE YOU LEAD A NORMAL LIFE AS ANY BODY ELSE,PROVIDED YOU TAKE THE MEDICINES REGULARLY AND DO WALKING FOR ATLEAST 30 MINUTES DAILY and follow some dietary precautions.
So do not panic.Go to a Diabetologist.PLEASE.

I BELIEVE YOU ARE NORMAL AND NOT A DIABETIC AT ALL.
God Bless You with good health

Probably not. Depends on what the results were.

Worse case, ask to have the test done again.

there is chance to be negative. Try once more. Test it in some other pathological clinic with full fasting

You should hav etold the doctor about what you had beforehand. If the test is taken fasting or not right after a meal, it is more reliable.
