Not every pregnant women developes gestational diabetes. Since this is however a common problem and treatable, all pregnant women are tested. Uncontrolled diabetes while pregnant makes for a large baby which could cause problems during the birth and then after the baby is born they can have their blood sugars crash and that's not good for them. If you develop diabetes while pregnant, it means that you could get diabetes later in life or at least you are in a high risk group. |
