Toilet hygiene?

Think off this.....

When you wash your hands after using the loo, you transfer germs from your hands to the taps when you turn them on. After you wash them surely you are putting the germs back on when you turn the taps off?
Imagine how many germs you get in a public toilet.

What is the question. I usually have the paper towels ready I use one for on and off the rest I dry my hands with, use one for the door. Or carry that hand sanitizer with you.

dp

you're supposed to clean your things with one hand (for me its the left), and turn on the sink with another. Report It

Why would you wash your hands in a nasty public toilet. Use the sink, you dumbass!

Very good point there! Never thought of that. Think i will now start cleaning the taps!!

Actually it's not the taps you should fear, it's hand driers (particularly the electric ones) a recent study showed that large amounts of fecal matter (from other people) are transfered to the hands of users. Mmm... yum, yum fecal matter. Hand towels on rollers however were surprising hygeinic and carried little risk to the user.

After washing your hans you should use a paper towel to turn off the sink.

Not only that there are people who dont wash their hands then they open the door. When you go out you touch the same handle to open the door. At least it is your germs on the tap. On the door it is everyody elses.

The procedure is:

- Turn on tap
- Wash hands (with soap)
- Dry hands with paper towel
- Turn off tap using the towel
- Open door, using the towel, and leave restroom
- Discard towel.

you're right! i get quite scared thinking about things like that! In fact, the place full of most germs (except the actual toilet) must be the lock because everybody touches that straight after they have done their "business" and before they have washed their hands - yuk!!!

In order to avoid doing this, open the tap, as you wash your hands, pour some soap water on the tap also and then continue to wash your hands, in this way, you can prevent getting contaminated.

Also, it is best to avoid touching the toilet as much as possible

I try not to touch any thing in public toilets It might sound extreme but like what you say imagine the germs that are transferred especially from people who don't wash their hands and yo would be surprised how many people dont. First I dont touch the toilet seat, I flush the toilet with my foot and then I wash my hands but I try to have a packet of wipes in my bag to clean my hands

Ummmm....nice! Never thought of that! I cant stand people not washing their hands when finished in the toilet but to think that us that actually bother get germs backl on their hands yuk!
Invent something like disposable tap covers, toilet gloves or taps that are under soapy water fall, would look cool and hygenic!
(i have copyrighted these ideas now!!!!!)

You can't avoid germs for your whole life, they're necessary for the strength of your immune system. If you make everything super clean, your body won't be up to it when you do eventually come in contact with germs.

Humans have been around for millenia, wiping their bums on tree bark and leaves, don't be so scared of germs. After you wash your hands, there's more bacteria on them than before... if anyone remembers GCSE biology.

Not if you use the world-wide recommended disinfective hand-wash lotion.
