Is it safe to return library books if a child in the house has german measles.?

I'm not being silly: put them in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer for about 48 hrs. I have done this when I buy second hand books that smell musty.
You can also put them in the microwave for about 10 seconds--but no plastic bag of course! And watch them. The book will get warm but that's what you want--you're killing the "bugs".

Seriously rubella cannot be contracted from paper - if it were otherwise schools would have to discard all their texts whenever a child was diagnosed with rubella.

It would probably be wise to ring the library and explain the situation to them. They will know what to do. In my local library, inside the books, they say that you must contact them if an infectious disease have occurred in your household.

should be perfectly safe..if in doubt wipe with an antiseptic wipe just to be sure.

When in doubt.........burn the hell out of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
