Genital Herpes????????

What is Genital Herpes?? What causes it?? Is making out cause it? What does it do to your body? Why do you have genital herpes??

Herpes is cause by a virus. It's a Sexually Transmitted Disease. It can cause sores on the vagina or penis. You can't cure herpes but there are medications to help control it. It can be transmitted from mouth to penis or vagina (lip sores) or can be transmitted from genital contact (the penis and vagina during intercourse). You can't get it from making out unless one of you has a sore on your mouth (usually the lip) or one of you has it on the genital area and you have intercourse.

If you've ever made contact, even touching a guys hand u have genital herpes already.Go contact a doctor and tell them u have it. Don't worry though, all they'll do is sew shut ur cooch and put a deadbolt and lock through it. But ur butt is still safe for guys so go at it.

It's a viral infection that, when active, produces sores on the genitals. It can go dormant, but it never goes away. You can get them through intimate contact, and even off of a toilet seat. Sorry to say, but there is no cure for them, just meds that control outbreaks.

For definitive answers, do a web search. I did so a couple years ago, and this is what I remember from it:

Genital herpes is caused by a virus. This virus is not the usual blood-borne virus, but actually invades the nerves. A person with genital herpes undergoes different phases of the disease. When non-contagious, the disease is harbored in the nerve tissue and no symptoms are present.

Occasionally, something (stress?) triggers an outbreak and the virus migrates to the skin and causes a rash- or pox-like condition. During this phase, genital herpes is VERY contagious. Therefore, ALWAYS look at your sex partner and make sure he (or she) has no obvious rash or pox on his (or her) body before having any sort of sex with him.

Unfortunately, there's an in-between condition. The infected person shows no symptoms, but probably WILL in a few days. In this condition, the person "sheds" virus particles, and these can infect another person.

Use of condoms can minimize the possibility of getting herpes, but cannot eliminate it completely because it's not just the man's penis and the woman's vulva and vagina that convey the virus. Use of the "female condom" (genital barrier) probably will prevent catching genital herpes, but any mechanical device can fail, so be careful.

Typically, genital contact (i.e., a sex act) is needed to get genital herpes. It is possible to catch it by any body contact, just les likely.
Clearly, if you touch a person's genitals who is shedding virus, then touch your own genitals, you risk catching herpes. In THAT sense, "deep petting" can cause herpes.

I'm not sure about the herpes virus, but must viruses are quite delicate, outside the environment in which they thrive. WASH YOUR HANDS and you'll probably kill the herpes virus.

Now some more bad news. Although "genital herpes" is typically in the genital area, herpes can be conveyed to another part of the body. Having oral sex can leave you with an upper body (facial) herpes infection. People with herpes have to be very careful not to touch their eyes, or they can get a herpes infection of the eyes.

Moreover, there's an even more common variety of herpes that cause cold sores about the face and MIGHT be the cause of those cancer sores in your mouth. This form of herpes can also infect someone in the genital area, say, by oral sex.

If you think you have herpes, see a doctor. There are treatments that can reduce the symptoms, but I believe they are prescription only.
