Genital herpes.?

if you have genital herpes wouldnt you know by having a out break?


supposivly someone i messed around with has them and has had them for 4 years, but we messed around a year ago wouldnt i be able to tell if i had them by now?

i havnt had a outbreak and i didnt notice anything on him and i have seen it many times, and i have been with 4 guys after him and know one said anything to me about herpes.

Not necessarily. You could not have an outbreak for a long time, or you could just be an asymptomatic carrier (you don't break out, but you pass it to others). Was that person that supposedly had it in a break-out when you messed around? If not, then you may have gotten a break and caught them in a non-contagious dormant time. You can still get checked. If you're infected, your tests will show the presence of the Herpes Simplex antibodies in your blood, which tells the doc you have the disease. That's the only way to find out if you're infected or not.

No, I know someone who was infected by a past partner & never had an outbreak until after a surgery.

not really as the answer above says you can carry herpes and not have an outbreak. but u can still pass it on to others. u wouldn't have know that he had them at the time since herpes is practically invisible until an outbreak happens. chances are likely that u would have gotten herpes from him. most people don't know if they have herpes outbreaks until they get tested. i never knew i had genital herpes until i had one of my outbreaks tested.
