Transmit genital herpes through oral sex?

If someone has genital herpes & you perform oral sex on them, can you get genital herpes through that kind of contact or can you tell me what would happen in that situation. Peace

If a person gives oral sex to a person who has genital herpes it's possible for the person "giving" to develop cold sores (oral herpes) on their mouth/lips.

Herpes can be passed from the mouth to the genital area and vice versa through oral sex.

Usually genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2), but it can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1). Cold sores on the other hand are usually caused by HSV1, but, like genital herpes, they can be caused by HSV2 also.
