Genital herpes... how is it passed?

i just found out that i have genital herpes, and my 2 year old daughter used my body sponge in the shower today. i just realized that she used it, i didnt know. is there any way that she contracted herpes from this?

Yes, it is possible. Herpes is actually quite contagious during an outbreak. If you are having an outbreak and had recently used the sponge, it is very possible that she got it. If you are not having an outbreak, it is unlikely, but still possible.

In the future, when you are having an outbreak, it is very important to keep anything that touches the affected area away from your child(ren). That includes bedclothes, towels, etc. And always wash your hands after using the restroom.

how long have you had gential herpies because you can pass it on to your daughter through birth. As far as a body sponge...umm only if you washed yourself and immediatly she washed herself down there, but if this was separted by time then know it would have died by then.

no it gets passed in sexual intercourse. if you use the sponge down there and if she uses it down there too it might get passed but in not sure if it gets passed like that.

The virus will stay alive on warm, moist surfaces. Don't let your daughter use your towels or sponges at all. The virus can also be shed when you don't have an outbreak.
