Genetic Testing?

I have a strong family history on my Fathers side of cancer. everyone that has died, was because the had it.

The Cancers are all different types.

I live my life in fear that one day i will get this, It scares me so much..

Should I get Genetic tested? or could the news be too hard to bare? or they could it make my life so much better if the news was good.

as far as I know, you can only be genetically tested for Breast and Colon cancers. If those are the cancers, then by all means do it, not only to possibly ease your mind, but to be proactive.

All people are suceptible (spelling) to cancer. My family has strong cancer genes and I have had it twice already and I'm only 23 years old. You might get it in the future you might not, genetic testing will only result in giving you this same answer.

First off, it's not something that should have you living in fear. If it is going to happen there isn't a damned thing you can do about it. You just have to fight it when it does. If you are truely that concerned save some money and eat healthy. Good luck.

I see no reason for you to be genetically tested. Because most of the cancer is on your father's side, the likelihood of you becoming ill is small. You would be at a greater risk if you had a mother or sister with breast or ovarian cancer. Put your fears to rest.
