What are the pros and cons of genetic screening/testing? prenatal screening?

what are your thoughts on genetic screening/testing and also prenatal screening?

Its all theoretical isn't it. I have a genetic condition. I am legally blind. I did not find out about it until after the birth of my two children. If I had known beforehand I probably would not have had children. Now at 50 I can realise that it has not hindered me at all. My daughter has the condition. I am not afraid for her and even though she worries somewhat she is reasonably confident.
I work in the mental retardation field. I respect my clients and I can see that they have an excellent quality of life. I feel that people are scared of that they perceive to be different. We all have a challenge in life..
Most people have a disability that is not visible. I don't think that having a disability limits your life or quality of life. I just hope and pray that people will become more tolerant and empathetic to the people who have a disability
