How much does genetic testing for breast cancer usually cost? |
if I was to be tested, I mean. It was going to cost me about $3000 because my insurance doesn't cover genetic testing. I'm in the southeast United States. 'bout a hundred dollars." it depends on the experiment budget.in fact the medical tral would test the genetic therapy first on the small animals such as rabit or the mouse.if process the buman being test, all the spents would be free and will provide the subsidy . i herd testing for genetic cancer is around 3 or 5 thousands dollars its not cheep with out insurancebut its worth it my fiance is 22 with colan cancer and he has lynch sysdrem and after kemo they are doing alot more testing becouse of the gene to prevent it from comming back. The cost runs between $3,000 & $6,000 and unfortunately is not covered at this time by insurance. However, check with your local university hospital. If your family has a large percentage of breast/ ovarian/ colon cancers you might have a family mutation that needs identifing. Also you might want to test the person with cancer if it's a parent (yes men get breast cancer and can pass the gene to their children). The main reason for testing is to identify those a greater risk and to moniter them closer. This is done with yearly mamograms starting at age 25 and clinical exams every 6 months. And monthly self exams. I don't know where you live but in AR I can get some phone numbers for you if your interested. Good luck. It can be quite expensive. Others have quoted the prices already. If this is too expensive for you and your insurance will not cover it, I would look at your local university medical center. You may be able to get it done less expensive or possibly free. Sometimes these facilities are conducting research to find out info about different genes involved in cancer and find new genetic links for cancers that run in families. You may have to answer more questions and may have more follow-up appointments, but again you could get the answers you are seeking, save money, and possibly help out others in the future. |
