My wife miscarried due to Trisomy 13. We are going in for testing. Can anyone explain genetic testing process?

Trisomy 13 means an extra chromosome at position 13. This may have been due to a mistake in the division of the fertilized cell, or you or your wife may be a translocation carrier for chromosome 13. It will not manifest in you, but in your fertilized cell, it will lead to extra genetic material at chromosome 13, leading to an abnormal baby. If one of you is a carrier, there is a greater chance of this being repeated in a subsequent pregnancy. Your blood sample will be taken and your chromosomal pattern will be seen.

I useTrisomy 13 and now i have no sex feeling?

Your Dr should refer you to a Genetic Counselor a specialist that deals specifically with genetic testing and interpreting results. They will take a blood sample or other tissue sample for DNA testing and check for anything unusual. They may ask you questions concerning your family history, so the more you can find out about disorders or defects that run in your family, the better. After the test results, they will sit down with the both of you and explain all the results. If there is a genetic anomaly they will explain what this means and how it may affect your chances of having healthy children.
