Is there a genetic test for Porphyria? |
please help me out ! GREAT QUESTION? In October of 2007, I was diagnosed with Porphyria and from what I understand, genetic testing is required to "type" the form of porohyria. I have had blood taken three times for the "genetic test". After the 3rd time, I was informed that the test cannot be completed in North America and must be done in Whales. So, herein lies the mystery. I will not be going to Whales anytime soon but don't believe that the test can't be done closer. Unfortunately, seeing my specialist is not easy and I cannot see him again until May to further this issue. I hope I helped. Let me know if you learn anything. |
