What doctor should I go to, to take a genetic test to see if I may have cancer in my genes? |
I ask because my grandmother had cancer twice and my mother too. I am worried and would like to take the test. Thanks! If you want a genetic test to see if you are a carrier of cancer then you need to see a genetic doctor. I must warn you unless your doctor feels that regular screenings wont work with diagnosing you then most insurance companies wont cover the cost to see a genetic doctor. Just talk to your doctor and really think about what you want to find because if you want them to look for the cancer gene then they may just fine more then one which could scare the crap out of you because I believe we all carry some sort of cancer gene but just because we do it does not mean we will get cancer. Hope this helps.. Go to a cancer research clinic near your home, they can direct you to where you need to go and the steps involved. Good Luck! Visit an oncologist, they are doctors that specialize in treating and testing for cancers Please check out my web site. I feel that this is something that can help you. |
