Hi ya... does anyone know is lymphoma is genetic? |
just curious if anyone can help it will be appiciated.im being tested at the moment for a lump thats been growing in my neck, for over a yr.was told by the doctor a yr ago it was nothing then i was made to belive it was an abcess by dentist only the other day took xray and told me to see doc as its nothing to do with my teeth. only the other week i found out that my dad died of lyphoma, not lung cancer. really worried my dad died at39,im only 22,why have i got this lump growing, its not painfull? is this disease genetic?? anyone know? Hi from what i can understand about Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma..my dads family where unlucky when it came to this type of cancer according to various websites its not genetic, but my dad died 7 years ago from this and if his brothers didn't get it their child got it therefore it looks like it run in the family, my dad was 42 when he was diagnosed and 60 when he died, signs of NHL for my dad were swelling in the side of the neck and in the groin on your leg, weight loss and night sweats, as my dad always said unless you know whats what don't worry about anything until you know the facts. you need to be tested, my mum died of lymphoma, i was told its not genetic but its made me paranoid.i wish you well. it could be genetic and it cant be too.u need to consult doctor O.k. you may be getting mixed up between lipoma and lymphoma.Lipoma is a harmless lump.my 25yr old son had one removed from beside the top of is spine last year with no ill effects ,all went well.Lymphoma you can read about here : http://www.lymphoma-net.org/ There are two types of lymphoma, hodgkins and non- hodgkins. Non hodgkins rarely occurs before 40 years.Hodgkins lymphoma occurs in young people and its a painless swelling like you are having.and you may notice other symptoms with it,like lost of weight, fever, night sweats, fatigue, lost of apetite. The cause is unknown. I have one on my neck, had it for 1 year ,GP said sebaceous cyst, hospital doc said benign tumour but get scan, scan doc said lymph node and done biopsy, - panic as dad died of cancer last year age 77 - waiting on results but what Iv seen on web is that it could be the leftovers from an infection - don't remember having one but it could be from bad teeth (have one that dentist thinks should be removed) OR it could be the cause of some sort of cancer had mammogram 6 month ago and was OK. Waiting on results and I cant sleep and very stressed |
