What does hemoglobin variance mean? |
Hi everyone, I once had some genetic testing done and the results stated hemoglobin variance. Any idea what this means and is it dangerous? The term most likely refers to whether you are a carrier, or may have sickle cell anemia. If the doctor who ordered the test didn't feel a need to treat you, it probably isn't anything dangerous. Hemoglobin or haemoglobin (frequently abbreviated as Hb) is the iron-containing oxygen-transport metalloprotein in the red cells of the blood in mammals and other animals. Hemoglobin in vertebrates transports oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body, such as to the muscles, where it releases the oxygen load. Hemoglobin also has a variety of other gas-transport and effect-modulation duties, which vary from species to species, and which in invertebrates may be quite diverse. I think it means the ratio of red and white blood cells.Could be if theres a big variance. the total count of your hemoglobin value is the variance |
