Which genetic disorders could skip a generation? |
Which genetic disorders could skip a generation? Disorders that are caused by genetic mutations on the X chromosome are more likely to skip a generation. They're called sex linked disorders, becasue a mother has two chromosomes to cancel out the condition (making her a carrier) while any son that she bears has a 50% chance of coming down with the disorder, due to the fact that he only has one X chromosomes. Hemophilia, color blindness, and in certain cases muscular dystrophy are examples of these diseases. |
