About how many differnet genetic disorders are there in the U.S.? |
Please Im a junior in high school and I need to know this for a biology report I am doing for school. THANKs Alot = ) I'm sorry to tell you that there is really too many to name, but there is about over 200 genetic diseases (give or take 100)...from point mutations, deletions, missing chromosomes, and trinucleotide repeats. Way too many to name, they are always popping up...unfortunately. I've always been told that the number is around 10,000. In any case, it in the thousands, not the hundreds. Go the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) website and it may list the number of entries it has total for genetic conditions. |
