Is there a connection between the father's age and genetic disorders in offspring?

Nonetheless, a virtual tidal wave of recent research has made it irrefutable: Not only does male fertility decrease decade by decade, especially after age 35, but aging sperm can be a significant and sometimes the only cause of severe health and developmental problems in offspring, including autism, schizophrenia, and cancer. The older the father, the higher the risk. But what's truly noteworthy is not that infertility increases with age鈥攖o some degree, we've known that all along鈥攂ut rather that older men who can still conceive may have such damaged sperm that they put their offspring at risk for many types of disorders and disabilities.

Actually it is the mother's age that matters most!!!

No it is not the mother's age that matters!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P... Report It

Yes, particularly Downs Syndrome.

The mother's age affects the baby more. Once a mother reaches the age of 35, her chances of having a baby with a disorder increase. After 40 years old the chances dramatically increase.

Researchers are now studying men more actively than they did in the past. Research has shown that a man's age does affect the baby but the age is higher... in the 50s.

I have read that Marfan's syndrome, which Abraham Lincoln had, is related to father's age (as Down's syndrome is related to mother's age).
Marfan's makes you very tall with long fingers, can give you a strange sounding voice, and gives you connective tissue problems including heart problems. Rick Ocasek of the Cars probably has it and Joey Ramone too. At least one female college athlete who had it undiagnosed died of a heart attack while playing volleyball.
PS: It's obvious via your second comment that you had some agenda in posting this question. I think risks of this type are vastly overstated, and can easily be detected with prenatal scans and tests. Stop trying to terrify people into not having children, especially those with educations and good jobs as are on these boards. (The world is being overrun with idiots fast enough as it is.)
