Genetic disorder assignment?

hey everyonee
does anybody know any genetic disorders that are really lethal or interesting. its for my assigment and i want something different ;DD thanks in advance

Polydactyly is a genetic disorder that causes people to have 6 fingers on a hand or foot instead of 5. Sometimes they have 6 fingers/toes on both hands and both feet.

Williams Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that causes mental retardation and heart problems, but people with the syndrome are also very cheerful and outgoing, and are extremely musically-talented.

huntington's disease, tay sachs, cystic fibrosis, von willibrand's, hemophillia, there are tons..

Huntington's Disease is both. The gene for it has been identified. Since it runs in families the individuals have to decide whether to test for it or not. What's so terrible about the disease is that it doesn't show up until the 40's or 50's and by then many with the gene have had children. Check out the symptoms on the internet. A friend's mother had the disease; she never left the house & the shades were drawn 24/7. My friend inherited it and is now in a nursing home.

When you get an assignment like this, you want to select a condition that has enough info so you can complete your assignment. Search Medline or NIH when looking for info. Here's a partial list of genetic disorders and info on them:
