Genetic dental disorder, can I get claim it as a medical necessity? |
Please,no mean comments. Title is supposed to say: More than likely it is true. Your doctor needs to submit a letter of medical necessity to your insurance carrier. Dental injuries are covered by medical insurance, and I am fairly certain, that your congenital disorder is as well. You can always call your insurance carrier and ask. You also need to check with your insurance carrier. Some will still place limits on the amount that is covered, even if it is considered necessity. I have worked in pediatric dentistry since dinosaurs and am very familiar with this condition. If you have a syndrome, there are several that Amillo Genesis Imperfecta are associated with, then Medical could cover a portion of this. If however, or even if this is the case, try a psychiatrist, Have them intervene on your behalf, the self esteem issues them self willl likely be enough to encourage medical to at least cover partially. Another option, there are specific groups that will assist with this kind of serious dental defects that traditionally are not covered by dental insurance. Call your local dental association and they can direct you for help in your area. A final suggestion...dental students love this kind of challenge, if you are close to a dental school contact them and get a consultation. This could take a considerable amount of time but the savings would be well worth the extra hassle. If you do have a syndrome contact that organization for direction. Hope one of these helps. |
