What level genetic disorder is Down syndrome? Why would it be that level?

Meaning in (levels) I mean
Level 1:Single gene disorder
Level 2:Chromosome Abnormalities
Level 3:Multifactorial Disorders

Down's Syndrome is a Level 2 : Chromosomal Abnormality.
Why ?? Because there an extra copy of genetic material on the 21st chromosome. A gamete ( sperm or egg cell) is produced with an extra copy of chromosome 21; the gamete thus has 24 chromosomes. When combined with a normal gamete from the other parent, the embryo now has 47 chromosomes instead of 46. Twenty three chromosomes from each parent equals 46. A typical human karyotype (representation of the chromosome complement of an individual or species, arranged in PAIRS ) is designated as 46, XX or 46, XY, indicating 46 chromosomes with an XX arrangement typical of females and 46 chromosomes with an XY arrangement typical of males. Yeah, kind of technical but, I'm guessing that you have knowledge of this kind of info. I hope that this helps. Here's a Web:
