Please help. could i have generalized anxiety disorder?

I think i might have generalized anxiety disorder but i'm not really sure yet. I just recently finished my first year in college and I was really stressed about finals, moving out, and getting ready for my second year. I also started working (my first job) and I've been going through some family issues. I thought once school ended I wouldn't feel so anxious, but it hasn't gone away yet. I dread going to work each day (I work in retail) because I always feel like i'm going to mess something up and get in trouble. I try not to think about it when I come home each day but i end up stressing about it and constantly thinking about it. I've been having problems sleeping too, i can't seem to stay asleep and if i sleep more than 6 or 7 hours i get really bad headaches in the morning. Could this possibly be an anxiety disorder? please help!

You have anxiety, not knowing what you don't know, waiting for something to blow up in your face. Google A.N.T.(Automatic Negative Thoughts), and anxiety. You could win the lottery, and tear yourself up mentally thinking, great, now someone is going to kidnap you, or you will get hooked on drugs, etc. You got to train yourself to stop these ANTs before they get started. You will be amazed at how many ANTs swarm you daily without your noticing. You are not alone, believe me. If I saw you I would never know you had anxiety. When you see people on the street you have no idea how many have anxiety. It's embarrassing in our culture, we got to be in control of everything, so it is kept hidden. You can retrain your mind, and live a peaceful life. Best of luck.

Just seems like your going through a lot and need to take a break. If you go to the docs they are just going to throw some drugs in your face. Try and do something active like hit the gym or play a game of basketball.

Da! Seriously go see a doctor and get on some anti-anxiety medication. Sometimes it is that simple.

You're most liking just stressed out. You could have situational anxiety or depression. It just means that you have a lot on your plate now.

School actually might have served as a distraction from what really bothers you. That is why you are noticing now that you hate your job more then ever.

I suggest therapy (this isn't a bad thing, I assure you) just so you can get your thoughts organized. Vacations might help, but it also might just stress you out more. You'll feel like there are things you should be doing. Honestly, therapy is the best way to sort things out.

I only suggest medication if you really can't sleep a wink and you feel sick all the time. Just take it for a few days to take the edge off. But I suggest trying to stay away from meds.

Yes, and possibly also panic attacks. We all have stressful moments but when this sort of thing starts impeding your life on a routine and longterm basis, then it is cause for concern.

Make an appointment with a psychiatrist and describe what you are feeling and he or she (if necessary) will prescribe appropriate medications, counseling or behavior modification groups. There is absolutely nothing wrong in seeking more information from a licensed professional.

This does sound like a very mild form of GAD. I have moderate/severe anxiety and cannot get out of bed somedays. You need to go to therapy, and try to talk it out, if that doesn't work, maybe meds. Medication may seem like a quick fix, however, it doesn't resolve the internal issues. Stick with therapy, but do not settle for a therapist that you do not trust. The theraputic relationship is an essential part of the success of the therapy.

it could be become GAD. i have GAD and i've always been anxious at certain times althrough my childhood. then towards the end of this year, my senior year of high school, i began to have panic attacks. I have now been diagnosed with GAD. i don't take any meds for it, but i do see a psychologist. go see someone and work it out with them. it's always helpful to talk to someone other than family and friends because they have an outside opinion.

its a part of life man. we live in the age of anxiety remember. arite here are your options, go to ur doc say about one percent of this and become another digit in our overmedicated society or you get ur priorities in order. namely you look at things positively ur in college, ur gonna graduate and get a job have a good life and all that goodness. ur getting work valuable work experience. and this aint communist russia nobody will hold a gun to your head if you mess up lol. i know this sounds redundant and uv heard it everywhere, and i did too. so ill tell u the only thing that does do it. exercise and physical activity. this is coming from an ex lazy unmotivated person and u know wat comes with that right, anxiety depression all that crap. so go sign up for a gym and after a good amount of time in there u wont think of anything negative, ull be too tired to do that. ull just want ur peace and quiet and watever u need. oh yea and have fun lol. Later.
