Alternative methods to deal with Generalized Anxiety Disorder?


Okay, so from what I can tell from doing all sorts of research and such, I think I have GAD. I however don't have insurance at the moment and am wondering if there are any methods other than prescription drugs and psychiatric help? Like home methods that may not cure it, but at least help control the mind and make it easier to sleep at night.

Please don't tell me to go to the shrink, because I am going to as soon as I have the money. No stupid answers please. I really appreciate any help that you guys can give me!

There are a couple of things to do to help yourself.

Exercise each day. That will help a lot.

Find ways to relax.

Talk to someone.

Take St. Johns Wart. Not as strong as antidpressants, but it can be bought over the counter. The most studied herbal remedy in the word. Works for mild to moderate anxiety. Give it a few weeks to work. Works well for Anxiety and depression.

SAM-E is also taking a look at.

Eat well, get good sleep, listen to relaxing music.

There are natural herbal remedies for this. I have anxiety and these help so much because I refuse to take the meds the doctors prescribe because they always mess you up worse.

I understand where you are coming from, I also do not have insurance so when I get the money I'll go too. I have been having Anxiety and panic attacks. Someone suggested to me Valarian Root and it does take the edge off and make it easier to live with until such a time as I can go to the doctor. Also I have found doing things cleaning, some sort of craft, talking to people on the phone, anything to take your mind off of it helps.

There is things like calcium and magnesium for your nervous system. It is amazing what vitamins can do.

Going for walks and looking at things around you, really looking. This extroverts your attention.
