Please read. do i have generalized anxiety disorder?

i'm really close to my parents and i can talk to them about anything, but i'm self concious in public and shy, feel uncomfortable and bad, also i try to avoid eye contact and confrontations, i dread eating in restaurants, even if its just me and my mom going to eat breakfast or something, i sometimes try to avoid social outings and parties with friends, i always feel like people are watching or critizing me..so i get really nervous right away. everytime a person passes by me i feel like they are going to hurt me or touch me in a sexual way even though it never happens and i get real nervous, i always have to completely clarify what is i am supposed to say or do so i wont screw up and embarrass myself, i really hate it but i'm willing to do anything to stop it and get back to my life and i just want to get up and be strong. but everytime i just feel like staying my room all day on the computer and read. do u suggest i go to my doctor and get medication? or what should i do?

somebody please answer me!! please! i really need help

I feel for you! It's tough to go through this. It sounds to me like you have a certain type of anxiety disorder called social anxiety. Check out the link below and it might offer some clarity. I would discuss your well-being with your family doctor and he/she might be able to recommend a therapist that works on cognitive behavioral therapy. This therapy is especially helpful for social anxiety because it helps modify your thoughts and feelings in different situations. I have found this therapy to be really helpful with anxiety!

Yes see a Dr..Whats your age if you don't mind me asking?

It is good that you already realized that there is an issue in your life that needs dealing with. This is a stage that many people don't get to.

If you can keep a semi-secret I am the same way in many respects. It is awful that the other people in your life are able to approach other people and talk to them as if they didn't have a care in the world, but it doesn't work that way for us.

The first step is to seek some sort of outside advice. A counselor, which I have become through my own experiences, a mental health person, or even a knowledgeable and understanding person in your life.

The next step is to find out what works for you and what doesn't. Anti-anxiety meds are great at helping you to build your confidence around people and realize that they are not talking about you or going to hurt you in any way.

However, these drugs only work so well. It is never just drugs that work out the best for people. Counseling and support in combination with the meds is what works best.

Take your time and be patient with yourself, but above all be aware that you are not alone.

yeah try to get a therapist and do cognitive behavior therapy. also make sure that you're eating healthy, and exercising, and maybe take up yoga. if that doesn't help then you might have to take meds. but i think it'd be best if you first try to fix this the natural way.
