I may have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) ?

Well, I'm pretty sure that I have GAD because I am an excessive worrier and nothing really provokes my worries. Sometimes it makes me so depressed, I feel like doing horrible things to myself .... So, I told my parents. My dad was like "Ok ...." but my mum was like,"We are all like this sometimes. You are just like this because it is the week where everyone goes back to work/school .... but I'll take you to the doctor..." I've been like this for 6 months ! I'm thankful that I'm going to the doctor, but my mum thinks that I'm exaggerating and I'M NOT ! Should I just leave to it the doctor to prove it ? (I found it out when I was reading a pamphlet and I had all the symptoms it described for GAD, I think it is also the causes for my suicidal urges).

Don't worry about what others think. It's not important to you getting better. I am glad your Mom is going to take you to the Dr especially if you are having suicidal thoughts and not everyone is like this. Yes, everyone experiences some anxiety and depression from time to time. That is normal but it's not normal when it interferes and controls your life. It's also not normal when there are suicidal urges. I wish you the best of luck in your treatment. Be sure to tell the Dr everything. Don't leave anything out. Being honest with the Dr is the only way to get the treatment you deserve and need. I wish you the best of luck.

I'm sure the Dr will be able to help you. Report It

GAD is excessive worry most days for at least 6 months. it sounds like you could have GAD. some ppl have GAD so bad that they cant even function properly in the day. But theres cognitive therapy and medication that can help and you can learn how to deal with your anxiety better. it can only get better from here now you have recognised that there is a problem. i get extrememley anxious with big changes in my life and i feel like i cant cope, im on anxiety tablets now and it has helped me become more relaxed, sometimes you just need a break from your worries!!!but long term strategies you will learn.

My mom has something like that. She gets panic attacks and starts worrying about EVERYTHING. Bills, work, etc. First off you need to know that your not alone. There are others out there who feel the same way you do. And second you should just relax and maybe seek counseling. Also take up some hobbies to keep yourself busy. Start working out, join a sport something to keep you busy. Interact with people.
I hope everything works out and keep seeing the doctor and see a counsler so you talk about it and work something out.
Good luck and hope everything works out.

i have this, i have constantly got butterflies in the stomach and sometimes i get palpitations, i refused anti depressants because i knew they wouldnt solve this problem, although i have been on beta blockers for a while now to slow down my heart rate.

a big part of this problem, was my mother, she used to say " theres nothing wrong with you...... its all in your head" she was quite the bully, but she was also quite right im not saying your mum is to blame for how you feel, but it can almost be devastating when a parent doesnt believe their own child is anything but perfect.

banish the urges out of your head, concentrating on them will just make them appear more, you may not control much of your life right now but you will.

i hope the doc can help you, expert advice and treatment is good and having a good friend who understands and will listen is is a bonus. there is nothing worse than bottling up feelings,

remember you are not alone.
