Can i get ssi for GAD (generalized anxiety disorder).?

i have been suffering with GAD for a very long time now and it is only controlled by meds i just want to know can i apply for ssi for that it is at the point where i cant work it has got so bad.

If you can present medical evidence that the GAD can't be controlled enough by medication that you are unable to work, then you might be eligible for SSI. I've not seen anyone get SSI for GAD, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done.

I do not have any clients receiving S.S. for GAD. It is now about a five year wait to get approved and at least two denials before seeing a judge. If you are currently working, they deem you ineligible. You can apply by going to http://www.ssa.gov/
and call or download the forms. It never hurts to apply and see.
