Is this an anxiety disorder?

im always super nervous and have a heavy feeling of anxiety when in public places like stores, theaters, malls, and etc. is that generalized anxiety disorder? it doesnt sound like agoraphobia to me.

Welcome to the club. I have to force myself to remember that people aren't actually all looking at me and if they were they wouldn't think any differently about me than I do them.

The worst part is that every time I make some progress, if I don't keep working on it I'll relapse.

I believe it is. I was diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder and I had pretty much the same exact symptoms as you except that they progressed to where I would have full-blown anxiety attacks. But the best option would be to see a mental health professional and get their diagnosis.

It sounds like social anxiety disorder to me.

Self diagnosis is a very bad idea.

As is diagnosis from anyone who isn't an expert on the subject, to be honest.

If there's something going on with you that bothers you and interferes with your being able to live your life - that's when you go in and talk to your doctor about what's going on and go from there (with possible referrals, or medications, etc.).

So...yeah. If these feelings are really bothering you, and/or interfering with your life...talk to someone who really knows and can give you a real diagnosis and help.

If it occurs mostly in public then I'd say it's agoraphobia. I have it myself. It's partially related to social anxiety, which you probably have as well.

I believe generalized anxiety is defined as regularly being anxious, regardless of your current situation.
