What are the risks involved in using gene therapy?

What are the risks involved in using gene therapy?

there are different risks depending on the disease being treated and the method of introducing the gene. Retroviral vectors have the possibility of integrating into an actively replicating gene, causing problems. Viral vectors also have the problem of causing immune reactions - they can only be used once, have a limited size of gene they can deliver. Non-viral gene delivery methods are also being investigated. These have less likelyhood of producing an immune reaction. Gene therapy has great potential to improve the quality of life for many people.

Human gene therapy worth the risk.
