What are the benefits of gene therapy for cancer?

I'm doing a project on treatments for cancer. I have to do a presentation on one of the treatments and give my views on the treatment. I chose gene therapy and cannot find any of its benefits. Can you help me find its benefits or give your view on gene therapy? Or do you think I should rather give up and do chemotherapy?

There are no approved gene therapy treatments for cancer. Research experiments are being done on animals and in vitro (cell cultures) with engineered virus and plasmid vectors to deliver genes to override the oncogenes in cancer cells.

There are problems including how to target the cancer cells, how to prevent an immune response against the virus/plasmid vectors, integration of the new gene into the proper location in the genome and, overcoming a dominant oncogene.

I am not aware of any being available yet. Do you know of a human research trial? Or are you talking about the monoclonal antibody study drug?
