i have type 2 it was found when i was a baby and now i have portacath my splean was huge i looked fat but now i have enzyme treatment...YaY!! Gaucher disease has three common clinical subtypes. Gaucher Disease may be as high as 1 in 15 Jewish people of Eastern European ancestry, and 1 in 100 of the general population. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaucher's_d... http://www.answers.com/topic/gaucher-s-d... The most common form of Gaucher disease (Type 1) affects 1 in 100,000 of the general population although it is estimated that not all those who have Gaucher disease will show symptoms. In the rarer Type 2 and Type 3 Gaucher disease, neurological problems will occur. Gaucher's disease has no cure. Treatment options for types 1 and 3 include medicine and enzyme replacement therapy, which is usually very effective. There is no good treatment for the brain damage of type 2. I regret that I have no details of the rarity of type 2 & 3. |
