Epidermal growth factors their receptors and role in gastrointestinal diseases?

I WANT TO KNOW THE ROLE OF EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTORS IN GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASES,THE INFORMATION BEING AT ADVANCED LEVEL FOR DOCTORS

try www.pubmed.com for more info.
EGFRs are a family of tyrosine kinase receptors. When their ligands (EGF, hereguilin, etc. ) bind to them, the receptors dimerize and start a cascade of phosphorylation that ends in the transcription of a variety of genes. When the transcription of these genes is disregulated (because you either have too much EGFRs, the EGFRs are always turned on, or always turned off), it can result in a variety of diseases, not just gastrointestinal.

ummm...hmmm.....yeah.
