Is heartburn 1-4 days a week? |
Im so worried. I have had acid reflux disease for several years. The only real way to find out whats going on is with an endoscopy. They give you anesthesia to put you to sleep and put a long tube with a camera on the end down your throat into your stomach. It is painless. first they don't do that test at the Dr's office. the procedure requires for you to be put under conscious sedation(puts you some where between sleep and totally unconscious), then they put an endoscope down into the esophagus and into your stomach, the entire time taking pictures of any abnormalities. it can be a scary procedure, but at the same time it may save your health or your life. you may be suffering from GERD(gastrointestinal esophageal reflux disease). most of the time they will prescibe medication first such as proton pump inhibitors(stops the stomach from making acid).so try not to worry too much. but definitely go through with the procedure I have reflux & I have not yet had to have an EGD or scope procedure. I am well managed on medication, so go see a Dr. & this may be all you need, but don't put it off or you may need more invasive treatment. |
