What is the natural treatment for acid reflux (Gastroesophageal reflux disease)?

I take drugs for treatment too.

"Drink about 1 gallon of filtered water daily. Normally, you should try to drink enough water each day to keep your urine a light yellow shade. However, when you suffer from acid reflux, more water may be necessary to dilute the acid and normalize the pH in your stomach.
Do not eat within 3 hours of bedtime. This allows your stomach to empty and acid production to decrease. If you don't eat, your body isn't making acid to digest the food.
Do not lying down right after eating at any time of day.
Elevate the head of your bed 6 inches with blocks. Gravity helps prevent reflux.
Avoid eating large meals. Eating a lot of food at one time increases the amount of acid needed to digest it.
Eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day.
Avoid fatty or greasy foods, chocolate, caffeine, mints or mint-flavored foods, spicy foods, citrus, and tomato-based foods.
Avoid alcohol. Alcohol increases the likelihood that acid from your stomach will back up.
Stop smoking. Smoking weakens the lower esophageal sphincter and increases reflux.
Lose excess weight. Overweight and obese people are much more likely to have bothersome reflux than people of healthy weight.
Stand upright or sitting up straight, maintains good posture. This helps food and acid pass through the stomach instead of backing up into the esophagus.
Talk to your health care provider about taking over-the-counter pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), or medicines for osteoporosis. These can aggravate reflux in some people.
The methods above, along with high doses of quality probiotics go a long way toward restoring normal stomach function for most people. Cevan International's Digestive Health Complementary Therapy provides the comprehensive nutritional defense your digestive tract needs in order to properly digest food and remain healthy.
Complementary Therapy includes C茅van Nutritionals庐Veradophilus; formulated to provide a unique blend of five different strains of probiotic bacteria grown under strictly controlled laboratory conditions. The contents of VERADOPHILUS ensure comprehensive potent probiotic support that promotes a healthy intestinal environment. Veradophilus can help restore healthy microorganism levels that may have been depleted by highly processed foods, commonly consumed chemicals, antibiotics, oral contraceptives, stress, illness, and poor diet.
Complementary Therapy also includes AstaTrienol, whichhelps the body鈥檚 protective responses to defend and comfort the entire digestive system, from top to bottom. As a powerful nutrient blend, AstaTrienol provides nutritional support that helps the body modulate the inflammatory response which can be part of Acid Reflux.

Drink lots of water, lay off the alcohol, and chewing gum after meals is supposed to help.

calcium stay away from acidic foods

drink milk and stay away from spicy and or rich foods

1. Eat slowly, and don't overeat. Eating slowly will keep you from overeating, because your brain will register fullness before you've wolfed down more food than you need.
2. Use proper food combining: Do not eat proteins and carbohydrates in the same meal.
Get the book "Fit for Life" on proper food combining.
Eating several foods together encourages the secretion of different digestive fluids that combat each other.
Drugs often suppress digestion and therefore negatively influence your overall health.
Also, some of the drugs simply numb your experience of the reflux while still allowing acid to eat up your esophagus.
Use proper food combining and resist overeating for a lasting improvement.

Drugs won't cure it but they will relieve the symptoms.
I tried many remedies. Some worked better than others. Here are some that helped me. If I watch my diet and weight, my reflux rarely flairs up.

Eat a piece of orange peel. Organic is preferred -wash it well and cut a piece about the size of a thumb nail. Chew it well, until it's mush and then swallow. This gives me immediate relief. Take as often as needed.

Drink apple cider vinegar- organic of course- mixed with a little raw honey. A couple teaspoons of the vinegar. Rinse your mouth with water after- to protect your teeth.

My father had this frequently He also died of stage 3 colon cancer something every one in my family has and will get checked for at age 40. As for reflux disorder drinking alcohol is a big factor, don't lay down with food in your stomach. smoking?.. don't help. As for any anti acids forget it, they're for symptoms not the problem. Look into the purple pill. This is supposed to actually heal your stomach lining. And try Lifeway Kifer culture drink. It's said to bring back the balance of microbes that should be in your stomach for proper digestion.
