Anyone suffer from G.E.R.D.? |
anyone have G.E.R.D.? aka Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease? I have had gerd and other stomach problems for years, I'm not sure if it happened gradually, but the episodes come and go. I might have a week that it bothers me every day and then it goes away for awhile. I was taking Losec and it stopped the symptoms, another drug they recommend is Nexium, All the antacids like Gaviscon, Maalox, etc help to ease the burning I also used something called MUCAINE it is the best because it has an anesthetic in it. Reflux is caused by a faulty valve that is located between the stomach and the esophagus. It doesn't close properly and stomach acid escapes. My symptoms were nausea, a burning pain in my chest, and the middle of my back and sometimes vomiting. I found that small amounts of food is better and never letting the stomach be empty. also to walk around a bit after eating and not to lie down. The disease may develop over time or come on suddenly, you may even suffer from it and have hardly any attacks, right now I am not on any medication and it flares up 2 or 3 times a month. Mine came on gradually. Increasing severe indigestion and pain were my main symptoms (also felt very nauseus at times). i have it under control since losing some weight and I take lansoprazole 15mg daily and drink gaviscon generously if I need to; |
