I have 2 days ago I called 911 and they took me to the er, I have to change the way I eat, meaning they told me to eat apples, bananas, rice, drink tea, and lots of water, I wonder what they meant when they said I have to eat blend foods>

look on my 360 page and look for healthe News in red text and read about me having gastroenteritus, and look for my questions about it too.

I have a feeling they put you on the BRAT diet. The BRAT diet is a historically prescribed treatment for patients with various forms of gastrointestinal distress such as diarrhea, dyspepsia, and/or gastroenteritis. The BRAT diet consists of foods that are relatively bland, easy to digest, and low in fiber. Low-fiber foods are recommended because foods high in fiber may cause gas, possibly worsening the gastrointestinal upset.

BRAT is the mnemonic acronym for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast, the staples of the diet. Alternative BRAT diet formulas include BRATT (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Tea, and Toast) and BRATY (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast, and Yogurt).

I hope you feel better!

They mean you should run your foods through your blender before you eat them. It is like having pre-chewed food & is much easier on your digestive system. Another way to get blended food is to eat baby food. It is the same concept. Good luck with your diet. The purpose is to let your digestive system heal. Unless you have other medical conditions, the diet should not be permanent.

Do you mean Bland foods, that means plain food like fruit and vegies, plain toast, plain crackers ect..
Regards, Starlet..

I think you mean bland foods. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast and tea - BRAT diet. This is given to people when they cannot tolerate heavier foods because of a stomach virus or the flu. Gastroenteritis is inflammation of the lining of the stomach caused by stomach virus, flu, sometimes by reaction to certain medications.
