If I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis and UGI bleeding....?

from what I have heard is that this is a general term for stomach problems.

I am trying to get paid from an insurance company for food poisoning.... no where in my file does it say the words "food poisoning" , so do these terms mean that in medical lingo??? If my file doesnt say food poisoning then that most likely means I am getting nothing from the company I think is at faults insurance company right??

Any help at all on the situation would be greatly appreciated.

also if you were the doctor and you diagnosed someone with this would you tell them not to eat certain food or change their diet at all or give them anything to help prevent this from happening again?

Yes, often this can be caused by things you eat, even medication like aspirin or ibuprofen. Stay away from acid foods like tomatoes. Yes, your doctor should have informed you of what to eat and what not to eat and to be careful with certain medications. As for food poisoning, I think it would be hard to prove without actual proof that that certain food caused the UGI bleed. Your best bet would be to contact a lawyer. Medical conditions are hard to prove from what source if they are not completely obvious. Good luck!

P.S. Might want to get another doctor......

Yes it is the term of stomach problems.

You need to consult with an attorney. Your county bar association will refer you to an attorney that can handle your case. Many lawyers will give you a low cost or free half-hour consult.

Good luck.

Gastroenteritis means: Inflammation of the stomach and intestinal tract.

UGI means: Upper Gastro (stomach) Internal (bleeding)

It sound like you may have an ulcer instead of food poisoning. You could have eaten something that triggered your ulcer. Spicy food for example.

You added details AFTER I answered your question. Once you are diagnosed with an ulcer you are suppose to be given a diet and told what foods to avoid in order to keep from irritating your ulcer more. Actually, I am surprised since you were diagnosed with UGI that you were not given medication to stop the bleeding.
