How are biological vectors responsible for Malaria?

also how are vectors responsible for Gastroenteritis

there are different types of vectors in biology. a vector may be an organism that transports pathogens, allowing the spread of a disease, such as a mosquito.

Malaria is actually caused by parasites which are spread through the saliva of mosquitos.

In the mosquitos, the parasite is in a sporozyte form. After transmission to the blood of the host, the parasite infects the liver where it begins to replicate before it invades red blood cells and kills them.

(One symptom of malaria is jaundice, or yellowing of the skin and eyes. If you have ever gotten a bruise, it may have turned yellow from the bilirubin from dead blood cells.)

However, some individuals have blood cells which will become sickle-shaped and resistant to the parasites causing Malaria. This has been cited often as an interesting evolutionary advantage to the survival of the (recessive) gene for sickle-cell anemia. Having one copy of this gene allows greater chance to survive in an area where malaria is a danger. Some of their red blood cells are normal, allowing them to be healthy under normal conditions, and some of their cells are able to become sickle-shaped to avoid infection. (If an individual has two recessive copies for the gene, they are less likely to survive due to complications.)
