Can the present Health Delivery system in India effectively cater to the medical needs of the underprivileged?

India being the second most populous country in the world with majority of its population below the poverty line has a meagre budgetary allocations in Medical and Health sectors. Added to this, there is a professional lack of integrity and unwarranted political interference in the working of the health delivery systems. Prevention of certain communicable diseases like Malaria, Dengue and Gastroenteritis, that take millions of lives every year, has utterly failed to yield satisfactory results. Medical indices like high birth rate and high infant mortality rate along with high rate of illiteracy clearly expose the ground realities.

Medical indices like Infant Mortality Rate and Birth Rate give positive/negative indication on the success of Health Delivery system.

It is true that there is a professional lack of integrity and unwarranted political interference in the working of health deliverry systems. Due to these reasons ,present Health Delivery system in India,it can be difficult job but not impossible to carry on effectively cater to the medical needs of the underprileged.Although,we have enough professional integrity persons in medical sciences in comparision to other scientific fields at present.It is also true that prevention of certain commuunicable diseases like Malaria,Dengue and Gastroenteritis take million of lives every year.It can be possible when public and political men both think properly about the problems faced by our medical persons.
