Is 7.5/500 mg of codine strong? |
i have viral gastroenteritis and the pain is my appendix area is un bearable. the doc gave me that script and not sure how strong it is. help me 7.5 mg is the active ingredient which is codeine. It doesn't sound like a really strong amount. The 500mg is either acetaminophen or aspirin which are over the counter pain medications. It seems your prescription isn't too strong, but you didn't mention how many you have to take a day. when i had surgery on my back i got 10/500 from my doc i think that might be the highest seems quite the normal dose for that condition if its too bad go back and ask for some stronger ones it certainly not the highest dose they can give and if the pain is that bad you may have a certain degree of resistance It is pretty well a mid range dosage. Codeine and like drugs usually start a 2.5 mg/500mg and go up to 10mg/750mg. Your's is somewhere in the middle and is probably the most commonly prescribed amount. |
