My mom has gastric cancer(stomach cancer) is she going to die?

all i want is to know how long i have with my mom.

I'm going to post an answer I wrote for a similar question many weeks ago - I hope it helps:

"...is she going to die?"

I can't help you with the average survival time. Doctors and Cancer Research Center websites can give you all of the specifics. I can tell you, however, not to get bogged down with statistics. Statistically speaking, the chances may be low. But you can't focus on the numbers. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma almost 6 years ago. Them he was diagnosed with testicular cancer about a year and a half ago. If we would have listened to survival 'statistics' either time, he would have been dead in spirit before he even started treatment. Make sure you and your mom stay focused on complete healing.

If it's in an advance stage it more probable. if not... depends on the type and your moms body. And of course treatment. Ask a couple of docs.

If there is advanced cancer, then the prognosis is poor. If the cancer is found at an early stage of development, the chances of long-term survival approaches 70%.

well, i dont know

I am sorry -- your mom is going through a very difficult illness. And, of course, you with her. While not everyone survives gastric cancer, it is even more important to remember that many do.

No one can answer your question. Her doctor can talk about her outlook based on: her specific type of cancer, any metasis, her general health, treatment choices and her outlook. Only him/her can provide that type of information.

Even then, nothing is a guarantee in life. As an oncologist I know says when talking about a prognosis, "but my patients surprise me all of the time." In other words: a) don't give up hope; and b) treasure the time you do have from her.
