I have H-Pylori and I'm scared I need advice?

I'm 27 year old and I have been battling stomach problems for 6 years straight. The last three months have been the worse. I have been in hospital so many times Ive lost count. They did every test under the sun but never tested me for H-pylor until this week. It came back positive. I'm now doing the treatment. The thing is I feel really sick on it, and I'm worried I could have cancer which is caused by H-pylori. I have all the symptoms for gastric cancer except the weight loss. I have never lost any weight do this problem. What is the likely hood I have cancer?. I'm scared out of my mind and feeling sick now ( I was fine for a few weeks while on nexium) that I could have cancer. if anyone knows anything other then what I have reserched please please let me know.

My grandmother was just diagnosed with that. she went on a medication called a prev-pak, it is 3 types of medications that you need to take every day 4 pills in the morning 4 pills at night. if the medication is taken as prescribed there is a 90% chance the bacteria will be gone, however if you miss just one dose you increase your chances of the bacteria returning. When I spoke to the Dr. he said it was linked to cancer but if caught early and treated correctly the chances of it happening are slim to none. just stay on your meds, they will make you sick...you have 2 very strong antibiotics in there, and it will upset your belly and give you the runs but don't stop taking them. Keep in touch with your Dr. and go for a follow-up in about 3 months.

It causes a gastic ulcer, can cause a duodenal ulcer, and it does not have to cause cancer. The H-pylori is living, and somes the cure is antibiotics which kill it.

my guess would be that you are jumping the gun by linking H-pylori with cancer. Do a little more research and you will have find that H-pylori is responsible for causing ulcers. Majority of people with ulcers also have H-pylori as the cause. I have been treated for H-pylori with antibiotics in the past.

The likelihood of cancer is small. If it was cancer they would have seen polyps in your colon when they stuck the camera down your thoat and into your stomach or it would have shown up on a colonoscopy. Generally H-Pylori will cause stomach ulcer which are extremely painful, open, bleeding sores in the lining of your stomach. Until they heal, it will hurt like hell! However, the medicine to kill H-Plylori (which is just bacteria) will make you feel a bit sicker in the beginning, but then it will kill the bacteria and the other meds will heal the ulcers. This can take up to 6 weeks.

Instead of being scared you should be relieved. They have finally found out what is causing your pain and discomfort. H. pylori is very common and effectively treated with antibiotics. The antibiotics are probably going to cause you to have some GI upset. To help relieve this eat something with your medication. In a few weeks you should be feeling better.Try not to jump to conclusions such as cancer so prematurely it will only cause you stress and that is not good for your health.Good Luck and even if you start to feel better do not stop taking your antibiotics, this is why we have so many resistant bacteria out there. People need to understand that if this continues to happen we will not have any antibiotics that will work anymore. Antibiotics are great things that are often taken for granted and abused. Won't we be sad to see people dying from previously curable illness because we felt better and stopped taking them before the infection is completely treated.Sorry I'll get off my soapbox now I just feel very strongly about this.
