Gastric Bypass!? |
Does anyonw know how much (approx) is a gastric bypass surgery? and how many pounds overweight do you have to be??? It all depends on the Dr you go to. And you have to actually qualify for it... you can't just be say 50 lbs overweight and decide you wanna do it.. they run a series of tests and such to make sure you qualify. Someone I worked with had it. You have to be obese which medically means 100 + lbs overweight. And you have to diet under a doctor's supervision for at least 1 yr. It costs about $25,000 , but some insurances cover all or part of it if you have medical issues because of your weight. I've seen someone lose weight and look alot better ,but I've also seen someone else get very ill and have to be hospitalized because of complications. So it is risky. Definitely should be a last resort after all diets have failed. Most hospitals that offer this surgery schedule open houses where people considering it can come in and ask questions to the surgeon & patients that have already had it. I have a family member that is sadly very overweight & was considering this so I went with her to one. The procedure may be considered for obese individuals who have: |

Hey lady.... good for u. I had my gastric bypass 11 years ago and IT WAS the best thing i have ever done! I am also communicating with several others from Y Answers about this...so feel free... My mum she lost a lot of weight but...it didnt work out to well.
