Gastric Bypass Christmas treat?

I am the new person in the office, where there a total of five of us. I have been here since July - which is long enough to participate in the girt giving of Christmas (they all celebrate it, so there is no alternative holiday issues for them). Being the new person, entry level, and a newlywed I have a rather tight budjet. I thought I would find a nice christmas mug or basket, fill it with candy and a stuffed santa for the ladies and a wooden brain puzzle for the engineers. Two of the people can have regular candy, one is a diabetic so they will get sugar free candy. My problem comes with the lady that just had gastric bypass surgery - what munchie treat can I put in hers? She is kind of a pain in the but, and arrogant (I get nice clothes second hand - she sneers at the idea etc). But I still want to do something nice for everyone - any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Give her tea, hot chocolate hot apple cider. gourmet coffees. Sugar free for the all but the tea and coffee. Get sugar free cookies. Snack crackers as well. No wheat products. No hard candies or candy bars that say sugar free. She will love it. Or get her a steak seasoning herb set. All of this she can tolerate without causing her pain. She will love your consideration of her. Merry Christmas.

Your welcome. Tea is a great choice. Have fun. Happy holidays. Thank you. Report It

does it have to be munchies...maybe something cheap from the bath and body store, some small samples of hand lotions,a small picture frame for her desk,or the basket with some holiday flavored teas,if she is able to drink that

Soy chips, Soy nuts, Peanuts, Smoked Almonds. Stick with no sugar, protein stuff. Flavored teas and coffees? Lotion, pen, gift card to Goodwill (jk).

Since she is not eating much, you could fill her basket with bath treats, such as bath salts, a candle, mirror for her purse, potpourri all but the salts can be purchased at a local dollar store to stay within your budget or clearence items at a local department store and arranged beautifully in a basket, or you can fill the basket with note cards, a nice pen and a calendar

Get her anything you would like the bypass surgery only tells you that you may get sick with sugary sweets and they just can't eat a lot of anything. If it's been less than 3 months then packs of soups are good. She maybe on a liquid diet. Stay away from cakes, cookies that was one thing on their list of do not eat. Or anything real rich flavors.

"Gastric bypass surgeries may cause dumping syndrome. This occurs when food moves too quickly through the stomach and intestines. It causes nausea, weakness, sweating, faintness, and possibly diarrhea soon after eating. These symptoms are made worse by eating highly refined, high-calorie foods (like sweets). In some cases you may become so weak that you have to lie down until the symptoms pass." http://www.webmd.com/hw/weight_control/h... So maybe no sweets. Maybe fruit. Or like the first person said a candle, or bath stuff. Or maybe a CD. Or just talk to her, and see what she can eat.
