Gastric bypass funding?

Does anyone know if their is any funding from private or governmental sources to help cover the cost of gastric bypass surgery. I do work I am not a bum my insurance excludes the surgery and I have a cracked disk so I cannot exercise very effectively

If the surgery is medically necessary you may be able to appeal the insurance company and their denial. The doctor needs to "code" it correctly

In Arkansas, if Gastric Bypass surgery was deemed medically needed by his/her physician, Medicaid (government funded health insurance program for those who meet certain income requirements) can and will pay most of the expense of having it done. Of course that can usually take some time and definitely can come with red tape. But it can be worth it in the end. I would definitely check with your local Health/Human Services Department about it. My mommy had the surgery done in the late 80's via Medicaid funding. She was at her heaviest 420lbs. She went down to a low of 180. Over the past 15 or more years she has yo-yo'd between pounds, but she has never hit that 300 or 400 mark. I am sure that finding funding will not be that difficult at this day and age. Most insurance companies are willing to foot the bill because it means lower costs for them in the long run. I know that mine will if I chose to have it done.
