Gastric Bypass---your opinion?

I have talked to several people who have had it done, and most of them are glad. Some regret it because of complications. I'm scheduled to have it done on 9-24 and I'm getting a little nervous about it. I know it's risky but I'm willing to take the risk so I can be on my way to a healthier me. I have tried EVERYTHING, no exaggeration. Anybody know of anyone who has had serious complications or even died from this surgery? And please, no comments about how gastric bypass is the easy way out--I absolutely do not agree. It's a life change and it has helped numerous people become more healthy and productive in their lives. Just some feedback would be nice, thanks.

You're right that weight loss surgery is not the easy way out, there is nothing easy about weight loss. Deciding to have weight loss surgery is a big decision, so it is good you want to be sure and confident of whatever you decide. I know gastric bypass is very popular, but have you looked into the lap-band? The long-term results are the same, but with less complications, less trauma to the body and is reversible. If you want more info on lap-band advantages, you can check it out here: http://www.lapband.us/lap-band-advantage...
Long-term weight loss with either procedure is not a guarantee, it takes changing eating habits and exercising regularly. Good luck on whatever you decide.

I had a neighbor who had it done successfully and he lost over 100 pounds. I also have a co-worker whose cousin had it done and nearly died of complications. Have you thought about lap-band surgery instead? Word on the street is that it's much safer and just as effective...

i almost did before i found this....
I promise try this...it will be the last thing you ever do!!! As long as you cleanse your body....you will be fine....it's like giving yourself and oil change..... My family and I have been using the best cleansing technology...:)the first time I did it, I lost 10 pounds in 9 days:).....check out this site鈥?br>

Well, like you said, there can be complications, but I'm not against it. For many people it has changed their lives and can be a great start to a healthier lifestyle. But personally I feel that it is a last resort. It's never good to have surgery for any reason unless it is a life and death situation. If you feel this is the only way you can live a longer and healthier life then I think you should go ahead and do it. Just make sure you are doing it for the right reasons and not for vanity.

I have met a few people who have had complications, but no one has ever died (in my circle of acquaintances). Just remember, after you have the gastric bypass surgery, you can not eat they way you used to. Most of the time, people have complications because they eat the same junk they did before the surgery and it affects the after result. Just talk to your doctor and go over the reasons and I'm sure you will feel reassured. Good luck!
