Ganglion cyst. . . . removal?

I have a ganglion cyst on my left wrist, and it recently started annoying me more and more. I have had it for about 5 months, and I think i am going to get it removed. I was wondering if anyone has had a ganglion cyst on their wrist. . . and if they got it removed . . was it pretty simple.. . . like were u able to go home and not be in pain that day?? Also, did it scar a lot?? did anyone's cyst come back after it was removed?? how long did it take to recover?? thanks.

I had one on my right wrist. It was a breeze, in surgery and out in less than an hour. Didnt have that much pain, and if I did I was given a pain killer to take home.. Dont sweat it! That was 5 years ago and it hasnt come back, but I have heard of people talk of others that come back.

I had a ganglion cyst on my right hand at the base of my middle finger above my palm. I bothered me a lot so I had it removed.

The surgery was no big deal, I could have watched if I hadn't been too chicken. Then the doc said I could look at it before he stitched it up, I didn't. (I had a good plastic surgeon). The surgery was out patient.

I was in pain that day and for a few days after, however, this was about 25 years ago. Doctors handle surgical pain differently today.

I have a small 3/4 inch long scar at the base of my finger and no it did not come back. I don't remember how long it took to recover. I went right back to normal activities as soon as I could without too much pain.

Even though you go through some pain after surgery it is worth it because you are never bothered by it again.

I had a ganglion removed from my left wrist about 4 weeks ago. It was outpatient surgery and the pain I did have required only Ibuprofen and ice. Post-operatively it was immobilized for about two weeks. The doctor told me the cyst had wrapped itself around the joint so a lot of digging was required. It is still swollen with some numbness. I have also needed thereapy to re-gain strength in the hand and range of motion.
