Ganglion Cyst Removal?!?!?!? |
I have a ganglion cyst on my left wrist, and it recently started annoying me more and more. I have had it for about 5 months, and I think i am going to get it removed. I was wondering if anyone has had a ganglion cyst on their wrist. . . and if they got it removed . . was it pretty simple.. . . like were u able to go home and not be in pain that day?? Also, did it scar a lot?? did anyone's cyst come back after it was removed?? any experience/advice would help :) I dealt with this same thing for over a year (finally got it removed). The surgery was fairly simple, and i have minimal scaring (it actually looks like i was drunk and tried to commit suicide~ i have a lightening bolt shaped scar) there was some slight pain afterwards (i was more groggy from the procedure) was back at work the next day doing minimal things ( pharmacy technician, lots of hand work). The only thing that took time was having the strength back in my wrist. That was probably 5 weeks after surgery. That was 1.5 years ago, and no reoccurance yet. I will state that mine was actually wrapped around my carpal and made for more extensive work for the physician (she thought i would only end up with 90% recovery and usage) i have surpassed that My husband has one on his right wrist removed when he was 21, and it came back 10 years later. For both removals, he was in moderate pain, but I think it was because he was not following his doctor's orders. Don't worry about the pain. Get it fixed, and get some meds for the pain. Good luck! My daughter had that surgery. her cyst was under the tendons. She couldn't drive for at least three months. The cyst also came back. The Old Bible bump huh? I had one but, I was told that they are very painful as far as the surgery goes and it was not worth it for me so I stuck it out and it eventually calmed down and went back in. Sometimes they can do things with needles too so I guess it just depends on what your Dr. says he thinks about your particular one. They call it a Bible bump because in the old days they would just take a big huge Bible and whack the bump back in. |
